Utah is one of the best places to live, especially when you live in the Greater Saint George area. Established in 1861, the city of St. George is located in the southwest corner of Utah on I-15, 1- hours north of Las Vegas. The early settlers, who tried to grow cotton in this temperate climate, referred to it as Utah's Dixie. Today, St. George is the hub of Southern Utah, the home of Dixie State College and the hosting area for the Huntsman World Senior Games. In the 1960’s St. George, began its retirement community development that has since attracted both families and retirees and is often referred to as the new Palm Springs. Known for its' warm and dry climate and year round opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, boating, tennis and golf, St. George is in the midst of some of the world's most spectacular scenery – Bryce Canyon, Zions National Park, and Grand Canyon National Parks. The oldest temple of the L.D.S. Church still in use is located in downtown St. George, as is the Red Cliffs Golf Course. In addition, a number of parks, biking trails, and walking trails have been incorporated into the city’s master development plan.
